Our Photography Journal: Day 7 : Brown Bag of Cash- Diva Dollars!

We are telling our story of how we entered into this photography journey and how things began for us……

Our Story!

The year was 2006

Brown Bag of Cash - Diva Dollars

So as you know we began our journey in 2006 and we came right out the door swinging... We became immediately the everything photographer

We created a studio right in our apartment living room and we were scheduling appointments. So aside from the portrait photo session we had reached out to my son's after school program and they were hosting events for the students and one event in particular was a Diva's Night Out for the girls, okay this was a perfect opportunity for us to bring our backdrop and sell printed pictures to those little divas that was interested in having a printed photo, I had worked out a deal with the director of the program to where I would setup a photo area at the event and sell pictures and I would split the proceeds with the program.

Perfect Deal!!!! The Divas were in the House!!!!

So the Diva Night was a pretty successful Event. I brought my niece with me to enjoy the festivities of the night.

After the weekend was over Monday came and I had come to pick up my son after school and give the brown bag of monies to the director of the program, Low and Behold I had received the news that there had been organizational changes within the church/program and that everyone that I once was dealing with positions had been eliminated and they would not be back.

I was at AHHH with what had happen, the folks that I had set a plan in motion with and was putting events on at the church afterschool were now gone, so where does that leave me and this bag of Cash???!!!

There was no-one there that was familiar on what deal I had made with the program director and didn't know anything on the money aspect of what we had did at the event.

So what was a girl to do.

Hold on to the brown bag of Cash or Have it all for the business??

It's Our Anniversary and we are sharing our journey with you!

15 years and counting!

Prom Seasons... A Distant Memory

The year was 2007 and just the fall of the previous year we had picked up our camera and we were ready to take on the world and capture everything in it... So as time went on and opportunities presented themselves to us we were happy to oblige. Prom Season on any giving year begins in March and goes through May.

We were contacted by the parents in order to capture images of their son and his date on their way to senior prom. So delighted that we were able to offer our mobile studio services to this client. We arrive at the home in which it was a Pre Prom Party going on complete with all the family and food and the energy was super high. We set up in the living room with our standard gray backdrop and we had a white column that stood to about your thigh area.  As we placed the couple in position we begin to capture images of this memorable occasion. I've just recently came by this memories of the past with my humble beginnings. I'm Thankful and Grateful of the journey and experiences that I've had to capture the many couples, family and friends during their seasons of celebrations. It thrills me to connect with so many people and be apart of their life memories. Just like that its a memory at a distant.

2007 On a mission to capture everything- My anniversary journal

It’s My 11th Anniversary in Photography Service, For the next eleven days, I will journey through my experience of beginning Kustom Kreation Photography…

2007-

After starting my journey fall of 2006 as 2007 approached I was clear on my way to shooting anywhere from Fashion and Glamour, Portrait Weddings and Special events. I begin to shoot my then seven year old son and t-ball team. Taking actions photos of the team as well as individual posed pictures. During this year I became pregnant with my second child. I was not going to allow my pregnancy to be a factor in my budding photography business. More then ever I was pursuing my passion. Capturing my own maternity pictures. Taking on many special events. For the 1st time I was recommended to do special event photography for a celebrity event.  I was scarred out of my wits seeing that I was a budding new artist. Nervous and scarred I took on this project and with the feedback I received from my client was one of the biggest lessons to date moving forward capturing special events. This was a real breakout year… I was shooting any and everything…

Portraits * Special Events* Maternity* Daycare Center

With my new baby and camera in tow we were on a mission to capture all that we see….

2006 When It all began- My anniversary journal

It’s My 11th Anniversary in Photography Service, For the next eleven days, I will journey through my experience of beginning Kustom Kreation Photography…

2006 is when my journey officially begin after history of creating picture art and always toting my camera around capturing many amazing events in my journey in life. After encouragement for others I finally decided to invest in my 1st DSLR camera (Nikon D50) thanks to my personal photographer friend Willie Ross of Ross Photography that advised me of what camera to get started with. Once I was able to purchase  my camera I was eager to capture any and everything. I was now a professional photographer and it was time for friends and family to get on board and hire me for all their photography needs. My initial goal was to be like the 20 minute mall photographer where you go right in take pictures and prints done in less then an hour. I would have my new clients come to my in home studio take pictures and print them off from my inkjet computer and viola! I had a studio & printing facility right in the comforts of home. Over time ideas information and processes change. Grateful for all opportunities that came my way in the very 1st beginning. Every dream has to start somewhere and here’s to my evolution in my photography journey!
