Catching up

Well September 2023 has arrived and we are already in the middle of the month. I really need to take time out and reflect on this past year up to this point. I mean I have not did my monthly recaps in just about any of the months of 2023. I enjoy doing the recaps to help me to remember how much stuff actually goes on throughout 30-31 days in a month. Also to be grateful of everything that month has brought to me.

Funny thing is when I do my monthly recaps I literally have to go through my mobile phone to look at what images and media was captured to reflect the activities.

So tonight I'm going to go back and make notes of all the months recaps I'm missing from 2023 and work on reflecting on the what has taken place so that I can catch up the blog with all this year past activities. Before we start at the beginning of the year I will start with August, since its the closest month to remember.

Today was one of those good ole Sundays! Relaxing Chill & spending time with my youngest son!

We were able to go to the barbershop together and get a haircut. My son decided to cut his hair off and start his hair growth journey all over just like I did a few months back. Now we are officially twinning :)

3 Things to Start Today

If you are looking for ways to shift your mindset and do something different in your life here are three things that you can start today

  1. Exercise – start today and do 30 minutes of exercise. You can start as simply as walking around your neighborhood. If 30 minutes is too much to take on start with 10 minutes a day and start to increase as you get more comfortable with the routine

  2. Sit Quietly and Meditation – (I actually do a 7 minute mediation daily preferable before I go to bed at night) I use this meditation music to assist Click here!

  3. Change up your daily routine

ex: if you drive a same route to work everyday switch up your route to a different one ; do something different afterwork ; pick out a different hang out spot; try something new to eat.

Tender Moment Tuesday

One of the great things about being a special event photographer for social events is the emotions that are captured of a moment. The process we have of captured event we move around and we look for and anticipate moments. Their are some moments that are just lucky ones for us, those ones we lived to get!

One thing for sure when looking back at that particular moment in time you can see the tenderness of that moment. So to say one of the great things about being a special event photographer is the connection between the people the event and that special moment in time.

Restarting the 100 Day Challenge!

Now that we have completed our 100 day challenge we’ve decided to jump right back in and continue to blog once again for the next 100 days. We’ve set up our halfway point which is in August and the next completion date is October. Besides challenging myself to write everyday, I’m going to incorporate something else to my daily routine. So here we are inside of day one for the next 100 days!

Getting Ready

We are preparing for a weekend trip and today was one of those day where we are working to get everything together and tie up as many loose ends as possible. We were able to treat ourselves to a pedicure and getting our eyebrows arched (which we were long overdue) My son and I made an appointment to the barbershop and last but not least we were able to make it to the beauty supply store to grab some braiding hair for our hair appointment tomorrow. As I sat at the variety places I had to go it gave me moments to sit down take a few deep breaths between each stop and be thankful that we are able to move around like we are and prepare to go away for a few short days.

Happy Memorial Day! We hope everyone enjoyed their holiday weekend.

It’s been a great weekend and even better Memorial Day Holiday! This holiday is the gateway to summer.

With so many happenings during the month of May we have celebrated Mother’s Day, Graduations, and the ending of school for most. Now as we wrap up the month of May we are gearing up for summertime and all the activities that come with this season! Summer is one of my favorite seasons! Swimming Pools, Sun dresses, Vacations and more. We look forward to what Summer 2022 will bring!

Impromptu Gathering with Friends

Yesterday we received a message from our friend Kim, extended an invitation to join she and her family for some Bar B Q and to sit pool side and enjoy a relaxing Sunday. We happily accepted the invitation and we were able to join the family for some pool side chat food and we even had a small celebration for their grand baby. As we close out this Sunday we are so very grateful for such a wonderful weekend. Thankful for invites for Impromptu gatherings with friends!

While we are caught up in the moment and in some cases the memory will be just a post on social media. I'm going to list a few ways that you can take the digital images you are creating by phone or photo shoot images and give a few ideas on how to preserve the memories.

“When Life gives you that moment… take a picture” Lately I’ve been going through plenty of image from photo sessions I’ve captured over the years. It brings back really fond memories. The places and people we have captured. It really keeps you locked into the moment. I’ve even been going through photos from our family albums and looking at moments that have gone passed. Some images I just stare off and remember a time others which are classic moments before I was born and I try to imagine the time period and what life was like for members of my family. “I get crickets.... “

Over the years being on a variety of social media platforms and starting a blog, it's never been a lot of followers but we've always work to post and stay consistent with our posting.

Consistency creates confidence... yes there are many times you can post something and it seems like no one listening at all but believe you me folks that are interested in your product or service will come around!!! Just be consistent!  True story... I started a blog in 2008 and I really had no idea what I was doing, but I would still just post about things that I was working on fast forward the year was 2011 and I begin to get orders from custom party supplies that I created... The success of the collection went on for a few years after... why... I was consistent and my content became top of google search ... not because I was a SEO guru ... because I was consistent even when it seem I was talking to myself.

Fast forward to May 2022! I'm apart of a 100 day consistency challenge. My challenge is to write a blog post everyday for 100 days! So far so good! We've been going strong! Just a few days we are at the halfway point 50 days of posting everyday! #consistency

Building a Company From Scratch!

Just start.

So I want to create an e-course and e-book using the information I’ve gained over the years as it relates to starting my company. (Kustom Kreation Photography, The Kustom Shop)

I began my photography company by just taking pictures. I seized every opportunity to capture. I wanted to capture each and every thing. I also figured in my head that most of the pictures I would take for people would have to be done on the weekends because most people I know worked during the week. Yep so my availability for the weekend was wide open. Saturday’s and Sunday if at all necessary. Then I got to a point I figured because most of the work I was doing was social events. Clients wanted me for a couple of hours so I figured I would have time to squeeze at least 3 events in a day. I eventually was able to do so. That wasn’t something I did often, the way traffic is set up in Atlanta you will never know what it will take to get you there. So while I filled my calendar and allowed the years to go by... during the week.

As a self sufficient entrepreneur we decided we would solicit and create our custom party supplies during the week. So that is what we created... social events on the weekend and custom party supplies during the week. This has went on for quite a number of years.
